Ground Breaking Development for Brecon Pharmaceuticals
Construction work has started on a major new development which will double the size of Brecon Pharmaceuticals’ existing Hay-on-Wye operation and create up to 100 new jobs.
Chairman of the Welsh Development Agency Roger Jones (right) helps Brecon Pharmaceuticals Chief Executive John Bath start work on the company's £multi-million expansion programme.
The Welsh Development Agency (WDA) is supporting the multi-million pound expansion programme and WDA Chairman, Roger Jones,
was Guest of Honour at the Turf-Cutting Ceremony. The building programme will be completed in the summer of 2005 and will
result in a 40,000 sq ft, state-of-the-art production and warehouse facility.
Brecon Pharmaceuticals’ Chief Executive Officer, John Bath, is delighted that work has started on the project. He said, "It is
very gratifying to see all our preparation now manifesting itself in the start of the physical construction programme."
He continued, "As a result of our passion for quality and service, our growth in recent years has been substantial. This new
facility will provide a first-class production environment which, staffed by our highly-trained people, will provide the perfect
solution to our customers’ ever-increasing needs."
Welcoming the new development, Mr Roger Jones said: “It is particularly pleasing to see a company at the leading edge of
pharmaceutical packaging with its headquarters and manufacturing facilities in rural Wales.
"Pharmaceuticals and the bioscience sector are now the fastest growing sector of the British economy. So the growth of Brecon
Pharmaceuticals is exactly the sort of development we need – building our strength in a key sector and promoting the prosperity
of rural Wales."
