Brecon Pharmaceuticals, the Hay-on-Wye-based provider of commercial and clinical trials packaging services for the healthcare sector, has announced the appointment of John Bath to the post of Chief Executive Officer, with responsibility for spearheading Brecon’s five-year growth plan.
An Oxford University physics graduate, Mr Bath (49) has an impressive track record spanning twenty-eight years in the packaging industry, of which the past sixteen have been devoted exclusively to healthcare packaging. During this time he has held senior general management positions both in the UK and in the USA.
Most recently, Mr Bath was President, European Operations, for PCI Services, the world’s largest provider of packaging and complementary services to the pharmaceutical industry. During his tenure, sales more than doubled through organic expansion. In addition, he championed significant acquisition activity including the purchase of the former AstraZeneca packaging facility in Corby, Northants.
Of his new role, Mr Bath says, “Brecon has an excellent reputation, a wonderfully positive culture, and impressive facilities with plenty of room for expansion. We are uniquely placed to meet the increasingly demanding requirements of the growing outsourcing market.”
John Bath’s appointment underscores Brecon’s strategy to consolidate expertise and capability in all disciplines. His record of delivering successful growth in the contract services sector augurs well for Brecon’s declared mission to excel in its chosen market.
