Alan Black has been appointed the first Chairman of the British Contract Packers Association. Alan has been associated with the contract packaging sector for 20 years and is a former managing director and current director of Brecon Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

The Association was formed recently to promote the concept and practice of contract manufacturing and packing and offers a number of benefits for both members and users of the British contract sector.

Its aim is to raise the profile of the contract services sector by encouraging the development of recognised quality assurance procedures, promoting high standards of professionalism through training and education, and ensuring members conform to its Code of Practice.

Commenting on his appointment, Alan Black said, "I am proud to be elected as the first Chairman of the Association. The industry needs a voice and the establishment of a body serving those within the contract services industry and ultimately those who use it is long overdue. We have some first class contractors in Britain and now the BCPA will act as a focal point for their activities and services.

"Members will enjoy a number of benefits conducive to the development of their businesses while those using, or wishing to use, contractors can approach BCPA members confident that they will provide a guaranteed minimum level of quality and service"
